May 14 - 22, 2012

ITINERARY

Off-Campus (Dominican Republic)



January 8 – arrive on island; spend night relaxing/dining in plaza area near hotel.

January 9 – Tour capital city/museums/shopping plaza.

January 10 – Listen to lecture at Western Hemisphere's oldest university; enjoy swim at private club; attend fiesta in Old Towne.

January 11-14 – Santo Domingo - work in orphanage, rehab hospital, or public hospital/clinic; visit senior center and nursing home.

January 15 – Santo Domingo - tour American Embassy and Botanical Gardens. Travel to Samana Peninsula.

January 16 – Las Galeras - horseback riding/beach/caving/plantation tour.

January 17 – Samana - tour of rural medical clinic; leave for home.


On Campus (Online)


January 21-May 5 – Weekly discussions covering assigned readings related to site experiences; quizzes; research paper.
