Android Email Setup
Setting up UC Email on an Android device
This setup will take you through how to add UC email to your android device. Please be sure that you have internet connectivity before you begin and make sure that you have Enabled IMAP for your Google Account. If you have previously setup an email account on your Android device for UC Email, please remove it using these steps.
Please note: Your experience may be different depending on your device, this setup was created on a Motorola Droid 2 Global with Android Version 2.3.4
You may choose to setup your Google Account in two fashions, either using Google Accounts (which can sync your Google Account), or through the Email account

.This is Option 1 of the two installation styles for setting up your email on your Android Device. This is the easiest way to setup your email account. -
Please also note that if you use this method you may also access your Calendar and Contacts

Step 1. On your Home Screen use the settings button or go to your settings through your apps | ||
Step 2. In your settings scroll down to Accounts and select it | ![]() | ||
![]() | Step 3. In your accounts tab select Add account | ||
Step 4. Select Google as your type of service | ![]() | ||
![]() | Step 5. Select Next | ||
![]() Step 6. Select Sign In (you already have a Google Account) Newer Android OS's may call this Existing Account instead of "Sign In" | |||
![]() Step 7. Use your Utica College email address (Note: your username must include @utica.edu), and input your password and select Sign In | |||
![]() Step 8. Select what you would like to sync with your account such as Contacts, Gmail (your emails), etc, and select finish once you have decided what you would like | |||
![]() Final Step. Select Finish Setup and you should begin receiving emails shortly. Go through your "Gmail" app to access your email | |||
This is Option 2 of the two installation styles for setting up your email on your Android Device.

Step 2. In your settings scroll down to Accounts and select it | ![]() | |

Step 4. Select Email as your type of service On some Android Operating Systems it may ask you which service you are attempting to use, in which case choose "other" as the option. | ![]() | |
![]() Step 7. After clicking next it will ask you to go through and add account information, first select General Settings | ||
![]() Step 8. Enter Account Name (I.E - what you think the account should be called), your Name (actual name), and your email address and select Ok when finished | ||

After selecting Ok it will bring you back to the screen in Step 7; go ahead and select Incoming Server next and include and make sure that it is setup as an IMAP Mail Server, the Server Name is: imap.gmail.com, and include your username (Note: your username must include @utica.edu for this to work) and input your password and then move to Step 10. | ||
![]() Step 10. Scroll down and include Server Port 993 for IMAP and leave everything else the same and select OK. | ||

Again, after selecting Ok from the previous step it will bring you back to the screen seen in Step 7, go ahead and select Outgoing Server Next, and then make sure that the server is set to smtp.gmail.com and input your username including @utica.edu as well as your password and move to Step 12 | ||

| Step 12 Make sure that the outgoing port is set to 465 and Select OK and it will bring you back to the screen as seen in Step 7 and you can then select Ok and you are finished and may move to the Final Step | ||
| Final Step Open up your Email App and you should begin receiving emails shortly as long as your account was setup properly. If you begin to receive errors, go back to Step 1. | ||

Step 4. Select Remove account and move to the Final step | ![]() |
| Final Step. Confirm the deletion of the account and then you may move to either type of setup and begin setting up your account - Google Account setup or "Email" App Setup" | |
