The following is a copy of the first automated email you'll receive from our system.  Read this email carefully, it contains a temporary password you must make note of and the dates you'll be affected.

Hello -first name-,

This is an official notice from IITS regarding the migration of our e-mail and calendar services to Google Apps.

Your UC e-mail will be migrated to Google Apps between -start date- and -end date-.  As of -time- on -start date-, you should start using your new Google Apps account for your UC e-mail.  Please use the following URL in a web browser to access your Utica College e-mail once your migration has begun:

    http://www.utica.edu/google

As part of the e-mail migration process, your UC password will be temporarily changed.  Starting on -start date-, your temporary password will be:

    -temporary password-

During the migration period, you should use this temporary password to access UC services such as e-mail, BannerWeb, library databases, and password-protected pages on the UC website.  Please make a note of this temporary password, as it will not be possible to change your UC password during the migration of your e-mail.

PLEASE NOTE:

 * Your password for on-campus PC and wireless network logins will NOT be changed during the e-mail migration.

 * You MUST use your new Google Apps account for all UC e-mail services once your migration has begun.  E-mail will stop being delivered to your current UC mailbox as of -start date-, and new messages will only be delivered to your Google Apps account.

 * E-mails you received prior to -start date- may be missing from your Google Apps account for up to 2 days after your migration begins, but these e-mails will appear as they are migrated from our existing e-mail server.  Please see http://www.utica.edu/google for details about which messages will and will not be migrated.

 * As of -end date-, your UC e-mail should be fully migrated to your Google Apps account.  Your regular password will be restored on -end date- at -time-.

IMPORTANT SECURITY NOTE: IITS will never ask you for your password during this migration.  It is common for "phishing" e-mails to claim they are informing you about an e-mail system upgrade, and then ask you to provide your username and password.  We actually are changing our e-mail system, but we will NEVER need your password during this process.  If you receive an e-mail which asks you for your password, please do not respond.  If you have any doubts about an e-mail which you have received, please feel free to contact James Farr, our Information Security Officer, at jfarr@utica.edu and ask about the message.
