Biography


Laura G. Dorow is Professor of Education, Director of the Adolescence Education Apprenticeship Teacher Certification Program, Coordinator of Student Teaching and Fieldwork, and the TEAC Accreditation Coordinator.

Dr. Dorow earned her B.A. from Wells College, a M.M. from Florida State University and a M.A. and Ed.D from Teacher College, Columbia University. Dr. Dorow holds teaching certificates in Childhood and Special Education.

She is one of the founders of the Fred S. Keller School in Yonkers, New York This CABAS preschool, which is affiliated with Columbia University, specializes in behavior analysis instruction for children with autism.

Dr. Dorow is a co-author of the textbook Specializing Education Behaviorally and has co-authored a chapter with Dr. Fisch in the book Including Children with Special Needs: A Handbook for Educators and Parents. She has numerous research articles published in a variety of journals including The Education Forum, Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, Journal of Behavioral Education, Journal of Research in Music Education, Journal of Music Therapy, and Education and Training of the Mentally Retarded.

Dr. Dorow is past President of the New York State Association for Teacher Educators and currently serves on the New York State Higher Education Task Force for Quality Inclusive Schooling. Her present interests include improving instruction for students with disabilities in post-secondary education.
