- February 6, 2013: Prof. John Peter published a paper Fake Wedges at Transactions of American Mathematical Society. He coauthored this paper with his Ph.D. advisor John Klein at Wayne State University.
- January 31, 2013: The Mathematics Department started a seminar on Lie algebra using James Humphreys' book Introduction to Lie Algebras and Representation Theory. The seminar will meet every Thursday afternoon from 2:30 to 4:30 at Hubbard 218. Faculty members will give talks in turn.
- January 9 - January 12, 2013: Prof. Houssein Behforooz, Prof. John Peter, and Prof. Xiao Xiao attended the Joint Mathematics Meeting at San Diego. Prof. John Peter and Prof. Xiao Xiao attended this meeting as part of the Project NExT program.
- December 6, 2012: Prof. John Peter gave a talk at the topology seminar at University at Albany titled "Stabilization and Classification of Embedded Thickenings"
- November 5, 2012: Prof. John Peter gave a talk titled "What is a Topology?" in the Math Club meeting.
- October 12-13, 2012: Mathematics Department (four professors and two students) attended the Fall MAA Seaway Section Meeting at Elmira College. Prof. Brad Emmons gave a talk titled "The Characteristic Polynomial of Permuted Block Matrices".
- September 25, 2012: Math Club has hosted a movie night. We showed the movie "Stand and Deliver".
- September 20, 2012: Prof. Xiao Xiao gave a talk titled "The Diophantine Problem of Frobenius" at State University of New York Geneseo colloquium series.
- August, 2012: Prof. Brad Emmons has reviewed two papers for Bulletin of Korean Mathematical Society.
- June 1, 2012: Prof. Hossein Behforooz has stepped down as the department chair. The math department thanks him for his six years of service. Prof. Brad Emmons has stepped up as our new department chair.
- May 31, 2012: Prof. John Gazak finished his one year position as a visiting professor. He will continue to teach at Utica College as an adjunct.
- May 16, 2012: Prof. Xiao Xiao published the paper Computing isomorphism numbers of F-crystals using the level torsions in the Journal of Number Theory. Here is the final version.
- May 13, 2012: Congratulations to the Class 2012: Rhianna Arcuri, Katelynne Dellerba, Raymond Fryc (Valedictorian of Class 2012!), Jeremiah Gillette, Rebecca Mennig, Ryan Mulligan, Fabio Sanchez, Yevgeniy Sidorevich, Monica Storms. Here is a picture.
- April 14, 2012: Mathematics Department (four professors and four students) attended the Spring MAA Seaway Section Meeting at Hamilton College. Prof. Xiao Xiao gave a talk at this meeting.
- March 14, 2012: Mathematics Department gathered together to celebrate the PI day even though it is during the Spring break. Here is a picture, and another one.
- Feburary 10, 2012: Prof. Brad Emmons gave an invited address talk at Albion College Colloquium Series titled "Sum of Continued Fractions Expansions".
- Fall, 2011: Prof. Hossein Behforooz published two papers titled "Weihted Magic Squares" and "Magic Squares Derived from Magic-Latin-Sudoku Squares" in the Journal of Recreational Mathematics.
