The English program at Utica College is distinctive in its breadth and richness, providing a strong foundation of learning in literature, in writing, and in the study of the English language.
Supported by an exceptional faculty that includes published authors, literary scholars, and linguists, UC's English major offers a wealth of options for student-directed research as well as opportunities for international study (such as our London Learning Experience) and publication in the College's literary magazine, Ampersand.
Curriculum English majors study the great heritage of the English-speaking peoples in a comprehensive and varied program that includes:
- American, English, and world literature
- the history and structure of the English language
- writing in various forms
Career Outcomes English students gain a level of cultural understanding, communication skills and experience in scholarship that prepares them to succeed professionally in a broad range of fields, including:
