In addition to these academic programs, the School of Arts and Sciences also sponsors and manages a number of important cultural and co-curricular activities at Utica College. These include:

* The Edith Barrett Art Gallery, displaying numerous exhibits of fine art each year

* The Jackson Lunch Hour Series, a program that brings musical and literary enrichment each week to the Utica College community

* The Theatre Performances, producing two plays each year, involving students and community members alike.

* The Asa Gray Biological Society Seminar Series, bringing prominent scientists to campus to discuss their latest research

* The Utica College Regional Science Fair, an event that promotes scientific achievement in grades 7-12

*Advisory Committee of Health Professionals, designed primarily as a resource for pre-health professional students at Utica College

Programs and Majors/Minors

The faculty of the School of Arts and Sciences includes some of the most accomplished teachers and scholars at Utica College. Five of the faculty members are recipients of the prestigious Virgil Crisafulli Distinguished Teaching Award, the highest teaching honor at Utica College. Five members of the School have been awarded the Harold T. Clark, Jr. Award for professional accomplishment. The faculty includes nationally and internationally recognized scholars in the areas of literature, mycology and ecology, and lists an impressive record of publication of scholarly work in books and journals. Among the School's faculty are also a renowned printmaker, a poet and a novelist.

Many of the Arts and Sciences faculty are active in research with undergraduate students. Some of these students have received external grants and fellowships to support their research, and have published their work in journals and presented their findings at regional and national scientific conferences. Several students have even been invited to Washington, DC to present their work to members of Congress in the annual "Undergraduate Posters on the Hill" program sponsored by the Council on Undergraduate Research.
