Science is the process of creating new knowledge concerning the natural world. Nutrition is an interdisciplinary science that requires an understanding of food production, consumption, and utilization. The nutrition program will prepare students for a career in the field of nutrition by introducing active learning through courses and experiential learning throughout the curriculum. Students will experience relevant and exciting challenges in their pursuit of success and rewarding careers, including opportunities to conduct research or pursue an internship in the field of nutrition. Our distinctive, active learning approach promotes scholarship and social awareness.

Learning Objectives

Community Nutrition
Students will be able to apply nutrition knowledge to support the nutritional health of communities.
 
Nutrition Care Process and Counseling
Students will be able to use the Nutrition Care Process and basic counseling techniques to communicate nutrition information to clients in community and wellness settings.
 
Food and Nutrition
Students will be able to identify and apply food principles to nutrition across the lifespan.
 
Nutrition Service
Students will be able to apply food service and safety principles.

Academic Requirements


Core/General Education: 34-55 Credit Hours
